The hostel is owned by four of us, (More About us) but at the moment most of the day to day running is done by Sue and Neil who live across from the hostel with their three lurchers. We are open seven days a week, all year round so please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.
Purpose built in 1991, Newtonmore Hostel is at the rear of Craigellachie House on Main Street, believed to be the oldest house in the village.
The hostel sleeps 10-12 persons in 3 bunk-bedded rooms. There are three toilets and showers, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove, and of course, a super drying room. We also have dry secure overnight storage for bikes.
Standard price is £20 per person per night, though exclusive use of rooms may cost slightly more. You can book the entire hostel from £170per night. Everything is included in the price, heating, hot water, firewood, even tea and coffee and if you cannot bear to be parted from the internet, there’s free Wi-Fi too. We have parking for up to five cars, but if you arrive under your own steam there's a £1 per night reduction.
We love dogs, and if possible we will allow them in the hostel though it is normally only practical where the hostel is booked out to a single group or in the main house as other guests in the hostel should be asked first. We would urge dog owners to contact us by telephone as we are sympathetic to the problems trying to find dog friendly accommodation.
